The VPS board of directors will hold a first reading of the policy at its Jan. 11, 2022, school board meeting. The board will vote on the policy on Feb. 8.

This month's recipients include paraeducators, teachers and an associate principal.

No start date has been set for testing at VPS schools. Before any optional testing will be offered at school sites, the district will have a plan in place that addresses logistics and safety, and will communicate information to staff members and families.

“Music in our culture has a really big role. Lots of ceremonies are surrounded by drums, singing and dancing,” said Mona Pocha.

Interested parents should contact their healthcare provider or local pharmacies about availability and scheduling. VPS is not offering vaccinations at district schools. The COVID-19 vaccine is not currently required for student enrollment.
